Launching the Local Panopto Software using Blackboard

Summary:
Sometimes, When attempting to log into the local software of the Panopto Recorder using the “Sign in with Blackboard” option, the user will keep being taken in circles and will end up actually logging into Blackboard using the sign in window provided on the Local Panopto Software. The effect is that the user is unable to access their Panopto software and use it.

Example:


Launch the Local Panopto Recorder from your Blackboard account, to bypass signing in on the local Panopto software due to local error:

* This process must be used in conjunction with a course that has been provisioned with Panotpo on Blackboard already.


STEP 1
Be sure the Panopto recorder is installed on your computer.


STEP 2
Please log into Blackboard using the Chrome web browser. www.courses.miami.edu


STEP 3
Once signed in to Blackboard, Inside of Blackboard. Proceed to a course site (Example: MED101 20181) that has been provisioned with Panopto already.


STEP 4
Click on “Tools” in the left side course menu.


STEP 5
On the Tools page, click on the words “Panopto Content” to the right of the circle green icon with the grey triangle.


STEP 6
Click the “Create” button at the top.


STEP 7
Select “Record a new Session” from the expanded drop-down menu.


STEP 8
Select “Launch Panopto” from the expanded drop-down menu.

  • The local copy of the Panopto recorder will launch and bypass the sign in with Blackboard dialog that usually comes up. This is a workaround for the error in the summary. The software should function normally.
