University of Miami Inforamtion Technology Learning Platforms

The Learning Platforms team (LPT) is part of Academic Systems, Innovation, and Experience University of Miami Information Technologies, and is responsible for academic systems used for communication, collaboration, engaging course design, and flexible educational experiences.

What We Do

Help Desk and Support: Our dedicated help desk provides phone, email, and remote support to faculty, staff and students, for recommended and institutionally supported learning platforms. We also provide documentation, technical training and share feedback with vendors to improve our platforms.

System Administration and Development: We perform system administration, data integration of student information systems, and manage upgrades of established learning platforms like Blackboard Learn Ultra and its integrated technologies. We also develop and maintain academic applications, Cognate Search Engine, EAB Navigate (a student information and advising system) and the UMiami App.

Teaching and Learning with Technology: To enhance the usage of learning technologies across the University, the team collaborates with university stakeholders, analyzes needs, pilots and implements new tools. We also connect faculty, and students with ways to use a tool in a course.
