Learning Platforms team supports established learning technologies like Blackboard Learn Ultra, and also collaborates with faculty to pilot new tools. The following learning technologies include recommended and enterprise supported tools to promote collaboration, share multimedia, teach online and more.

Blackboard Learn Ultra

The Learning Platforms team primarily provides support and guidance on Blackboard Learn Ultra - the flexible learning management system for online course content, communication, and assessment at the University of Miami. We currently support both the Original and Ultra Course View.

Blackboard Learn Ultra

Blackboard Learn Ultra (courses.miami.edu) is the course management system used by University of Miami faculty, staff, teaching assistants, and students.

Original Course View

The Original Course View has the same course look and functionality that you are familiar with.

Ultra Course View

The Ultra Course View is an optional change to how courses are organized and displayed.

Integrations and Learning Tools

The Learning Platforms team supports several institutional tools (Kaltura, Respondus, Voicethread, Collaborate, Ally) and third-party integrations to extend the use of the Blackboard Learn Ultra system for teaching and learning.

Kaltura

Kaltura is the University's management platform for storing and sharing media. Access Kaltura through the portal (umiami.mediaspace.kaltura.com), or within Blackboard (courses.miami.edu).

Respondus (it.miami.edu/respondus) offers online testing applications including proctoring tools LockDown Browser, Monitor, and an exam authoring tool, Respondus 4.0.

Ally is a tool available within Blackboard (courses.miami.edu) that provides insight into the accessibility of course materials and content and populates alternative materials for students.
