Primary course instructors and students are automatically enrolled by Blackboard, once enrolled in Canelink. However, you can enroll co-instructors, students, teaching assistants, and other users individually into a course or organization.
Each course site has a roster to view your class list, and enroll users in your course. All course instructors and staff can enroll users in a course or organization as long as they have a CaneID account. Course roles control access to the content and tools within a course. Each user is assigned a role for each course they participate in. The following list includes the default course roles: Blackboard Original Course View is a multi-step process we have helped outline below. Blackboard Course Roles
Instructor
Instructors have full access to the course Control Panel. This role is generally assigned to the person developing, teaching, or facilitating the class. If a course is unavailable to students, users with the Instructor role may still access it.
Teaching Assistant (TA)
Users with the Teaching Assistant role (co-teachers) have access to the full course Control Panel. If the course is unavailable to students, teaching assistants may still access the course.
Course Builder
The Course Builder role has access to most areas of the course or organization Control Panel. This role is appropriate for an assistant who should not have access to student grades. If the course is unavailable to students, a course builder can still access the course. The course builder cannot remove an instructor from a course. Course Builders have access to the following Control Panel sections: Course Files Content Collection Course Tools Users and Groups Customization Packages and Utilities
Grader
A grader assists the Instructor in the creation, management, delivery, and grading of items like tests, assignments, discussion board posts, etc. A grader also assists the instructor with managing the Grade Center. Graders have access to the following Control Panel sections: Course Files Content Collection Course Tools Evaluation Grade Center Packages and Utilities (limited access)
Student
Student is the default course role. Students have no access to the Control Panel. Student Like Access This recommended for course guests. This role carries the same functions as “Student” but the user will not appear in the grade center.
